A motivational and insightful extension lecture on the theme "Inflation and Personal Finance: Economic Balance in Everyday Life" was organized under the joint auspices of the Departments of Economics and Commerce at Maharshi Jamdagni Government Girls College, Pillukhera (Jind), under the esteemed chairmanship of the Principal, Dr. Ranbir Singh. The keynote speaker for the occasion was Dr. O. P. Gupta, former Principal of the college, who inspired the students with his vast knowledge and experience. The event was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Devender, Head of the Department of Economics. In his lecture, Dr. O. P. Gupta highlighted the profound impact of inflation on daily life. Through vivid examples, he explained how rising prices of food, fuel, and other essential commodities affect the budgets of middle- and lower-income households. He presented an in-depth analysis of recent inflation trends in India, discussing key causes such as disruptions in the global supply chain, fluctuations in oil prices, and monetary policies. This provided students with a deeper understanding of economic dynamics. The second part of the lecture focused on personal finance management, during which Dr. Gupta guided the students on the path to financial independence. He emphasized practical strategies for budgeting, smart saving, and debt management. Promoting the use of digital payment systems, especially UPI (Unified Payments Interface), he described it as a revolutionary step toward financial inclusion. Additionally, he introduced long-term investment options such as the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana and mutual funds as vital tools for the financial security of young women. An interactive activity was conducted to teach students strategies for managing daily expenses and saving. Dr. Gupta used examples from local markets to make the topic engaging and relevant, which encouraged enthusiastic participation from the students. After the lecture, the keynote speaker responded to all student queries in detail. Principal Dr. Ranbir Singh described the event as a milestone, stating that it played a significant role in awakening economic awareness and a sense of self-reliance among the students. In his address, Dr. Devender reaffirmed the commitment to organizing such inspiring events in the future, so that students may gain a deeper understanding of the practical and social aspects of economics. The lecture proved to be a memorable experience for the students, who not only learned new dimensions of financial literacy but also gained the confidence to face economic challenges. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Babita Pawar, Head of the Department of Commerce, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the keynote speaker, the Principal, all faculty members, and the students present.
